Precision rolled screw with a 60 degree fine thread which is commonly used in linear motion to provide fine and accurate adjustment. The product has a metric sized thread profile between M2.0 X 0.40 and trapezoidal 16 X 2.0. The lead accuracy is 0.08mm per 300mm maximum. Standard rolled material is 300 series Stainless Steel. The surface roughness is a burnished 16 finish or better. ABSSAC offers custom thread forms upon request.

Precision rolled with a 29 degree ACME thread form provides both efficiency of motion and load strength. Formed by a cold rolling process the lead screw material has a smooth finish for reduced friction and a strong grain structure for driving high loads. Maximum length of screw as is 144 inch on this imperially sized product. ACME thread sizes range between 3/16" and 5/8" in outside diameter and conform to ANSI B1.5 and B1.8 thread standards. The product is available in single or multiple start thread forms.

ABSSAC’s unique range of ultra fine Vee thread lead screws are ideal for finite movement within linear applications. Using 303 Stainless Steel and 1018 Steel as the base screw material, the proven cold rolled forming process  allows diameters from 6mm up to .500 inch, with leads as fine as .0125inch ( .3175mm) to be supplied. The lead screws are also available in both right hand and left handed formats and can be matched to range of nut options. Vee thread precision screws are ideal for ultra precision linear movement on a budget.

The revolutionary high helix multi-start lead screws can offer leads of up to 6 x the diameter of the screw. This multi-start  lead screw product provides high linear nut speeds from low rotational screw speeds.  Aimed at replacing timing belt mechanisms or executing fast and reliable linear motion the efficient conversation of linear to rotary movement makes this unique product usable in many applications. Formed by the cold rolled forming process, the screws are proving to be a superb economical solution for high speed linear applications.

Lead screw applications often require ABSSAC to look at enhancements to the standard product in order that higher efficiency or perhaps higher temperatures or duty cycles can be achieved without premature product degradation. One such enhancement of the standard lead screw product is a coating, which can be applied to the product on request. Other coatings such a dry lubricant can also be supplied on request.

The ability to supply a professionally tapped nut, matched to the thread of the screw is the key to supplying quality linear application products. Poor fitting nuts  lead to excessive and premature wear, additional backlash and low efficiency to the whole linear set up. At ABSSAC all nuts are matched to the thread we supply, whether than be a simple bronze nut to a multi-part anti backlash design.

Precision Lead Screws

Whether it is a simple lead screw or acme thread, Abssac has one of the largest linear product ranges to choose from. Combine this with a fast turnaround machine shop that can supply end journals that are ready to fit directly into your application, which ultimately reduces your scrap rate. Abssac is ready to help you find the right product for the right price.

Employing a traditional hands on approach to business, Abssac has expanded its lead screw ranges further by adding more diameters and leads per product range in 2014.  We now supply miniature diameters from 2mm up to the power screw ranges that start at 12mm and go up to a maximum of 200mm in diameter . We supply both metric and imperial leads per diameter in both right and left hand formats. Supplying, cold rolled, whirled, machined or ground style lead screw formats in stainless steel, low carbon steel and exotic materials if required, means that we have the linear device to suit all applications.

Precision Thread rolling service

If our standard thread styles and forms do not quite fit what you are looking for, we can provide a thread form to your exact specification. We also stock a wide variety of thread forms and sizes. The engineering department welcome inquiries for special and exotic thread forms and places us in the unique position to research and develop custom thread forms and provide first article inspection if required.

Quick delivery, competitive pricing and a knowledgeable sales team add to the whole product package.

Cold Rolled Formed Lead Screws

Abssac supplies both machined and rolled thread formats. Lead screws that are cold rolled formed have the immediate advantage of a work hardened surface on which the load bearing nut will travel. Starting with a pre-ground bar stock, the thread form is gradually rolled into the material with increasing pressure ensuring precise material deformation along the thread form as it is worked. By repeating this process the screw stock work hardens into a smooth, polished like finish with the desired diameter and lead as the finished product.

The smooth acme screw provides a high efficiency, drag reducing surface which is ideal for the range of associated plastic and bronze nuts.  In particular, the revolutionary active cam nut which handles loads above the normal ratings of a normal plastic nut without loss of it’s antibacklash features works exceptionally well with this product. Supplied in stainless steel to a precision lead accuracy or as it is sometimes termed, pitch error, of 0.05mm per 300mm of linear travel means that the leadscrews can be reliably used within high accuracy linear applications. Primarily supplying acme or trapezoidal thread formats via this process the Abssac precision lead screw product is winning business through its high efficiency product finish and competitive pricing structure.

End Journal machining

Our machining capability gives you a high journal concentricity product and can be applied to all screws regardless of diameter.  Lets work together to reduce your scrap rates and supply ball solutions that fit your application every time. We can work directly from your dimensional drawings or if they do not exist, why not supply us with a physical sample for us to copy. Although all types of end machine detail can be supplied we offer a very cost effective basic end journal machining that fits our range of support bearings (see example diagram below)
