Environmental Initiatives

Abssac takes seriously the environmental initiatives it sets within its office and warehouse environment and tries hard when purchasing disposable goods, to ensure that wherever possible, the ideals of sustainability and non harmful products are used and adhered to.  

Some of Abssac’s environmental initiatives include; Compliance with REACH, which is a new European community regulation on chemicals and their safe use (EC 1907/2006). It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. The new law entered into force on 1 June 2007.

In 1995 we implemented energy saving schemes, such as energy saving lighting throughout the offices, and the switching off of computers and screens when not in use. We have also have a considered reduction in transport policy with use of video or telephone conferencing where ever possible. We have a company travel plan which incorporates ,transport initiatives to share lifts wherever possible.

Sponsorship

We are currently looking into the viability of buying carbon offsets wherever possible.

Recycling

We have a recycling scheme in place which includes that all waste paper and cardboard is now either recycled or used as packaging material. We are also looking into carton packaging manufactured from recycled materials.
